Atlas A400M at Welshpool
Yesterday evening we were lucky enough to have a visit from RAF Brize Norton in the form of an Airbus A400M Atlas. The Crew made 3 low approaches and overshoots onto Runway 22 which was very impressive to watch.
if you were anywhere near Welshpool at the time you couldn’t have missed it!

Airfield reopening for visitors from Wales
Following Mark Drakeford’s announcement, from tomorrow 27th March ‘Stay Local’ restrictions will be lifted in Wales allowing unrestricted travel across Wales.
This will now allow travel between airfields in Wales and therefore Welshpool airport will reopen for visitors
From Monday 29th March we will extend our opening hours to 09:30 – 15:00*.
*Flexible with demand
We remain open for all essential flights.
HTV
Everyday is certainly different at Welshpool! We recently had HTV (ITV Wales) working on a program that will be released in April next year. It featured a bi-plane flying around the local area and using the airfield as base with a few extra surprises thrown it. It’s always great to see something that maybe beneficial for the local area and we’ll let you know when it’s out on TV!
Tiger Moth G-BMPY
A lovely treat to see this lady back flying!
This 1941 De Havilland Tiger Moth visited us from Knockin airfield a couple of times last month.
Powered by a DE HAVILLAND GIPSY MAJOR 1C ( HOFFMANN HO21 198B 140LK ).
New COVID Requirements
From today in Wales, face coverings must be worn in public indoor spaces by everyone over the age of 11. This excludes those with health or medical-related exemptions.
