Information For Drone Pilots
For any drone flight within the FRZ, permission must be obtained before flight takes place.
The airfield will take the following information to be entered into the Drone Log.
- Name of drone operator & license number
- Contact number (a mobile number so that we can contact them during the flight if needed)
- Location of operation
- Max operating height (usually gutter height and up to 400ft)
- Flight duration
- Request a call before starting & a call when complete.
Please note that the airfield office is open 9-5 / 7 days a week. If outside these hours please email midwalesairport@gmail.com.
Please be aware that home based aircraft, Air Ambulance helicopter & low level military flying movements occur outside operating hours.
Our FRZ here at Welshpool is pictured below.
This is an area 2nm extending from the runway centreline up to 2000ft AGL (like our ATZ) with addition of a Runway Protection Zone. This is a 5km x 1km area extending from each runway centreline in both directions.
